What Trump really seems to understand
“Tensions between the US and China
increased on Friday as it emerged US officials had "handed Beijing a list of
demands including a $200bn cut in its trade deficit and an end to "state
subsidies on strategic industries.
“The two days of talks in Beijing between Steven Mnuchin, the US treasury secretary, "and Liu He, the vice-premier, ended on Friday after weeks of escalating rhetoric "between the two nations (etc.)”
Well, this means Trump is REALLY addressing the damaging Chinese enrichment that I warned for in my recent book. If he keeps this up, we will escape from the huge Chinese threat that looms over us. One wonders why it is only Trump who understands this and not the press nor all those ‘opinion writers’, nor our European leaders?
Who would have thought the strange Trump with his messy White House and his Iranian folly, is in fact the only leader to understand and do something about the Chinese threat? Strange as it is, it is also very, very good news.

The whole Chinese international plan for the next 10 to 15 years is based on continuation of their present trade advantage, continuation of their enrichment, continuation of their increasing commercial superiority. The New Silk Road and the One Belt One Road initiative in their many details are in full swing of creation and were planned purely for that purpose. It is therefore predictable that China will do all they can to stop Trump. We should be ready to see Beijing use all tactics and stratagems they can muster, both friendly and brutal, both directly and indirectly, both openly and covertly to frustrate what Trump has just started: putting trade on an even keel. It will be interesting to watch.
A question remains about how and when the EU will jump on this band wagon. We need to, not only for our own sake but also to make it more difficult for China to slither from under the Trump pressure. The Commission still seems asleep on the subject.
