The unfolding of history.

More than even before, the circumstances of the departure of Defence Secretary Mattis clarify that President Trump is actually unfit for the job. So then what? Impeachment would be a good idea if it were not a process that could take two years.  One wonders why so long, but apparently that’s how it is and therefore impeachment is not a solution. Then some say the Mueller investigation, with a Democratic majority in the House, may well bring the President down, but I doubt that will really happen. And of course we are too civilised to hope Trump will be shot, although better him than Jack Kennedy. So with this dangerous man in the White House, we’ll have to muddle through for another two years.
I am still deeply convinced the rise in global power of dictatorship China, fuelled as it is by our money, is the great danger to us. And I see Trump and his Navarro plus Lighthizer as the only team that maybe, just maybe, could be able to do something about it.
As a passionate European, in the light of this global threat, I still see the European Union as essentially weak and navel staring. With this frustration and simultaneously in anger at the idiocy of Mr. Trump, we cannot but powerlessly continue to stare at Washington - it does not happen anywhere else! - to follow the shuddering unfolding of history. We are miserable and ashamed.
