The major error in Professors Brendan Rittenhouse's article

In 'World Geostrategic Insights' in Foreign Affairs Magazine of July-August 2022, there was the article ‘Why Indo-Pacific Power Hinges on Taiwan’ by Professors Brendan Rittenhouse Green and Caitlan Talmadge. The authors see Indo-Pacific Power purely through military eyes, which, I feel, is a major error. Only a holistic view, that also takes into account the huge Taiwan chip industry that the US cannot afford falling in to PRC hands as well as the symbol function of Taiwan either falling to the PRC or not, that will deeply influence the attitudes from all surrounding countries towards the PRC will, together with the military situation, give a correct view of why ‘Indo-Pacific Power Hinges on Taiwan’ and why it is good that President Biden has been so clear about defending Taiwan. Just discussing the military situation at great length, as the authors do here, does not cover the title and, worse than just useless, is erroneous. If the authors did not have so much pretence and had used a title like 'Military Aspects of Taiwan's Defence', I feel their article would not tarnish Foreign Affairs Magazine's reputation as it does now.
