The Chinese danger to us and a wider prediction
Xi Jingpin must be quite happy. He sees the middle East conflict and the Ukrainian war together taking up all attention, attention of media, of politicians, thinkers and writers and attention of the White House too. And thus, the West's free trade with China is being forgotten, and will therefore continue with the resulting huge flow of money to Beijing, quietly but oh so surely handing world supremacy to China.
What will that inevitably mean at first and what may it then possibly mean later?
At first, China will become the greatest power in the world, but not immediately with power on the ground everywhere. Chinese power on the ground, although inevitable too, will take longer while their dictatorship and with it, its unflinching cruelty - how they have behaved in Tibet leaves no doubt - will slowly but unstoppably take over, in Africa, in Europe, in South- and then North America. Our industry will have slowly crumbled and Beijing will be able to buy all they want, everywhere. That will take about a century and a half, maybe less. And then they will be the local boss everywhere.
Later, having thus become the only overriding power on earth, although this power will still be cruel, at the same time, as there will be no competition any more, that will bring peace. It will be Pace Chinesium, to be expected in two centuries from now! No more democracies, no more free political speech, no more independent judiciary, no more right to strike or demonstrate. Those core aspects of our present Western civilisation will predictably all be gone.
It actually seems quite inevitable, but far away it still is too. It is only our great-grandchildren and their offspring who will see the begining of this huge change.
