The strange Alaska meeting of Trump with Putin.

It is not easy to explain the negative result of this meeting where, notwithstanding all of Trump's messages over the last months, there still is no cease-fire, nor is there anger from Trump about Putin's continuing most cruel bombardment of Kiev. 

But when we look at the now heating up fight between China and the US for overall world power, a contest the US is most likely to lose, the first thing we see is that three previous US Presidents did not see it coming. George W. Bush didn't, as he was bent on starting his erroneous war with Iraq, nor did Obama see China's growing might. President Trump, in his first presidency, was then the first to see there is a problem there. But again, after him, Joe Biden only saw China's military threat, not the more dangerous economic one. And so, President Trump is the first and only one to see the problem !

A possible explanation of what we saw in Alaska then, just might be that Trump sees the US is going to lose the battle for world power with China.We cannot look into Trumps' mind so we don't really know - but if he were to think the only way for the democratic West to survive China's economic and military onslaught is getting Putin and his Russia on our side and against China, this would suddenly make the whole Alaska episode - being so friendly to Putin and blatantly treating him as a friend - totally understandable. 
This is just one of the possible explanations. We do not know the underlying truth yet. For that, we'll have to wait and see.
